Evaporative cooling in the Data Centre

Centenary House - Nuneaton

Warwickshire Council have just completed their 4th data centre using the EcoCooling CREC
system.

centenary house - data centre cooling

Data centre cooling with evaporative coolingThe data centre uses 4 CRECs to provide 90kW of cooling providing N+1 redundancy.

Hot and cold aisle containment is used with a raised access floor to enable 9m3 of air per second to be fed into the cold aisle.

Low Energy Electrically Commutate fans are used to provide extract. There is no refrigeration back up to the system

An EcoCooling control system provides a cascade of operations dependent upon the outside temperature. A PLC is used to control all parameters - including group control of CRECs, fan speed, damper positions and links to fire systems

The system also monitors performance and is fully compliant with ASHRAE guidelines on temperature.

An Ethernet protocol TCP Modbus facility integrates with a Trend BMS system providing data and fault reporting.

The Design is capable of achieving a PUE of 1.1
