Evaporative Cooling Data Centre Case Studies
Data Centre Cooling powered by Photovoltaic cells
Worcester Technical College use photovoltaic cells to provide power for the cooling of their data centre.
This was made possible because EcoCooling evaporative coolers use 90% less power than traditional air conditioning systems.
The PV cells which were installed as part of the same project are linked to the National Grid and the college is paid 43p per kW/hr for the power as a feed in tariff.
One EcoCooling unit has replaced three wall mounted Mitsubishi units, each of which used to consume 4kW of power.
The new EcoCooling system consumes less than 1.7kW of power in total.
The EcoCooler is able to provide up to 35kW of cooling enabling the server facility at the College room for expansion when required.
